Practices

The OAA regulates individuals and legal entities involved in the practice of architecture in Ontario. A certificate of practice (CoP) must be obtained in order to practise architecture in Ontario and offer professional services to the public. To apply for a CoP, one must be a member in good standing with the OAA. It is important to note all architecture practices must also hold professional liability insurance, comply with applicable OAA Bylaws and Rules, and participate in the OAA Practice Consultation Services review program.

Architect Certificate of Practice

Anyone who wants to practise architecture in the province and offer professional services to the public must obtain a Certificate of Practice. Find out more.

Temporary Licence/Limited COP 23

This alternative to the process of licensure in Ontario and issuance of a Certificate of Practice enables provision of architectural services on a specific project.

Licensed Technologist Certificate of Practice

Licensed Technologists need a Certificate of Practice to practise architecture in Ontario and offer professional services to the public, with specific terms, conditions, and limitations.
