The
Buy Ontario Act, 2025 is established to use public-sector procurement to promote economic development in the province by directing public spending to go toward Ontario- and Canadian-made goods and services. As the implementation of this legislation unfolds, practices should be aware their clients may be increasingly seeking goods that were made in this province or elsewhere in Canada to be specified in their projects.
Earlier this year, the government launched a consultation to gather public feedback about initiatives related to major goods and services in capital infrastructure and construction projects, and other key public procurement activities. The consultation is now closed for comments.
