The 2025 Holcim Foundation Awards celebrated excellence in sustainable design, with two Canadian projects earning recognition among the 20 global winners.
The Lawson Centre for Sustainability in Toronto, designed by Mecanoo Architecten, was honoured for its innovative approach to sustainable construction and its commitment to fostering environmental stewardship. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Crossing Visitor Centre in Winnipeg, created by Stantec Architecture, showcased ultra-low-carbon design through Passive House certification and the use of innovative materials.
These projects highlight Canada’s leadership in sustainable architecture, demonstrating how thoughtful design can address environmental, social, and economic challenges. Both projects will be featured at an awards ceremony in Venice on November 20.
