The OAA Interns Committee’s comprehensive research report, “Investigating the Landscape of Architectural Internship in Ontario” is now available on the OAA Website. Authored by Chair Farida Abu-Bakare, Vice President Education Natasha Krickhan, 2021 Intern Representative on Council Heather Breeze, and Architectural Graduate Research Assistant Vani Gopalkrishna, the report was presented to OAA Council in December 2021.

The report provides a snapshot of the current environment for Intern Architects in the province, with the research tracing several challenges around social, psychological, economic, and workplace settings. Drawing on analysis of the 2019 Membership Survey, the 2020 Roundtable on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and the 2020 Intern Title Survey, it examines themes related to professional challenges, the Internship in Architecture Program (IAP), and job opportunities and networking.
