OAA Council has approved the terms of reference for a new Communications & Public Education Committee (CPEC). This group will provide oversight and advice on public education and outreach activities in direct response to the Association’s secondary objects as set out in the Architects Act. It will focus its efforts to advance the public’s understanding and recognition that architecture is integral to the quality of life and well-being of society as experienced through a sustainable, resilient, and durable built environment.
To that end, CPEC will conduct an annual audit of the OAA’s existing public education activities, and provide direction on further outreach to engage with the public about the profession and the built environment, the Association’s role as a regulator, best practices for procurement, and other items related to the objectives and lenses of the strategic plan. Further, CPEC will help direct Council with respect to the location and theme of the annual Conference, along with items related to the SHIFT Challenge, Design Excellence, and Service Awards. Members will also evaluate submissions to the OAA’s Special Project Funding outreach program and Public Awareness Sponsorship opportunities.
If you are an architect and are interested in putting your name forth for the Committee, send a completed Indication of Interest and your resumé to Erik Missio, Communications Manager, before December 30.
