Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and the Stevenson Memorial Hospital have awarded a fixed-price contract valued at $174 million to Pomerleau Inc. to deliver the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Phase 1 Redevelopment Project in Alliston.
The project includes new and expanded acute care areas, the construction of a new, three-storey building that will more than double the size of the hospital to approximately 147,100 square feet and increasing inpatient bed capacity by 20 per cent, a release reads.
Once phase one of the hospital’s redevelopment is completed, the expanded hospital feature:
• Space to accommodate nine new inpatient beds at the hospital, increasing the total number of beds from 38 to up to 47.
• A new emergency department that is triple the size of the current department.
• Expanded diagnostic and surgical services.
• A brand-new birthing suite.
